PAPER QUILLING

Paper quilling art (even though introduced in 18 th century) it came to my doorstep only in 2013. I am an emerging quiller and my first teacher is the internet. After learning the basic shapes, I tried my hands with 3D forms and  this is my first ever 3D paper quilled art.

Note: Paper quilling experts forgive me.....

When I heard the word "Exploding box" from one of my close friends. I found it to be so weird and confused. I was very eager and curious to learn it.I went to my favorite teacher " The Internet". I went in search of soo many videos, read soo many blogs. Finally I have arrived with this one. I thought to present it for my cousin's son on his naming ceremony. Do criticize me , share your valuable comments to make it a better one.

WEDDING AARTI PLATES

Wedding aarti plates
The practice of taking aarti is a common thing among the Hindus. The word "Aarti" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Aratrika" meaning some thing that removes darkness. Aarti ( Aa + rati ) means  towards to right or virtue. All most all of the happy ceremonies will never end without a perfect aarti plate. Marriage occasions is usually highlighted with the aarti.
Especially  when the groom arrives at the mandapa. He is warmly welcomed with the aarti. It is traditionally believed that taking wedding aarti will remove all the negative thoughts that has been among the wedding couples. Here are some of  the wedding aarti plates which I have done for my cousin's marriage. Hope you'll enjoy it.

MY PAPER QUILLING

Quilling of papers is one of my favorite hobby. I love quilling on new stuffs every day. Quilling is also referred to as paper rolling, paper scrolling, filigree, mosaic. This craft has an interesting history. It has its origin among the ancient  Egyptians,  gained its popularity in the hands of french and Italian monks , reached its glory  in the hands of Elizabeth, Joseph Bramah, Mrs Delany and lost its place in the later 1800's. Now this craft has got a revival.Initially this craft was popular among the  french and Italian monks. They made this craft using the torn pages of bible and feathers to decorate their  every day stuffs like book covers , tea- candies and other religious items. The craft which was once an " upper class" craft has now become common to everyone. Now that s an interesting history that I learned about quilling. Happy to share with  you about the interesting stuff I leaned about quilling. Here are some of my quilled crafts. Awaiting for your valuable comments....

DIY BIRTHDAY DECOR UNDER 10$

   Hi readers!!!
It is my little S's third birthday. We were more excited to celebrate it. Since we moved to a new state and we have little friends in our neighborhood, we want to make it simple. My hubby said we can make it as a little budget since it was only us in the celebration. So I thought let me make the maximum out of my 10$ and to create my own DIY birthday decorations and make this event a great one. I made various decors like photoframe, backdrop, centerpiece. Really it came out very well. The theme was peppa pig and here are the few snaps from our celebration.....
